About Dick Budden

Having been born and brought up in Jersey he went to Art College followedby Freelancing as sculptor for BBC TV and later for the whole entertainments industry. Although they keep him very busy he manages to create these delighful pieces for the great outdoors. He is open to commissions and keen on challenges.

Biography / CV of Dick Budden

I was born in 1940 in Jersey, Channel Islands. Attended Kings School Bruton and Bournemouth College of Art, after 5 years enjoying the sixties freelancing at BBC TV Centre in 1968. Learnt to maek anything mostly from expanded polystyrene at the drop of a purchase order. During slack periods carved wood to make sculpture some of whcih have been cast in bronze.

Career high point was enlarging with Kenneth Armitage his last three public works.

At present making sculpture and carrying out any commissions that come along.

"The problem of contemporary sculpture and the garden is one which has rankled in my mind for years. It is usually resolved through a process of inversion-that is turning it into sculpture in the garden as against garden sculpture.
